We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team. Working under the direction of the Director, Controllership the Senior Accountant is responsible for the execution of accounting processes related to The Mobile Shop (TMS) business. This role involves supervising Intermediate and Junior Accountants tasked with assisting in the preparation of The Mobile Shop (TMS) financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedules - ensuring integrity of financial information and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the closing processes, including review of journal entries and detailed variance analysis.
  • Prepare, analyze and present accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.

  • Review sub-ledger schedules, reconcile with the general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies – ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for complex transactions.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking related tasks.
  • Review, analyze and provide reports as requested for decision making purposes.
  • Design, implement and maintain robust internal control procedures for all accounting functions.
  • Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for TMS Finance team
  • Supervise, train and review the work of staff to ensure quality of work and adherence to deadlines.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to staff on professional development.
  • Assist with providing data for corporate tax reporting requirements, audits, insurance claims, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Manage ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting goals, policies, priorities and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Perform other accounting duties/projects as assigned.

 

Your Playground

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in business, commerce, accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong technical accounting, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including prior experience in the use of pivot tables, advanced formulas, filtering and organizing large volume of data
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team contributing to a positive and progressive work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong supervisory, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset
